Who We Are

Ascent Insurance works as a trusted advisor to businesses that want their benefits program to do real work — recruiting against larger competitors, keeping good people, and protecting employees from costs that would otherwise be theirs to carry.

We are independent. We are not owned by an insurer, we hold no exclusive distribution agreement, and we market every plan across the Canadian carrier market rather than defending one company's product. That structure is the reason our advice can be carrier-neutral in fact and not just in claim.

Our office is on West Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver. We serve employers from three-person startups to organizations with several hundred people on the plan.

Why Employers Work With Us

Four things clients tell us make the difference, in the order they usually raise them.

Carrier-neutral by structure, not by claim

We are not owned by an insurer and hold no exclusive distribution agreement. Every plan is marketed to the carriers that fit your group, and each proposal is compared on identical terms.

We challenge renewals rather than forward them

A renewal increase is an insurer's opening position. We ask for the component breakdown, test the pooling charge and expense load, and model design alternatives before anything reaches you.

The same advisors, year after year

You deal with the people who designed your plan, not a rotating service desk. Claims questions, enrolments and terminations go to a team that already knows your group.

Plain language, written down

Recommendations arrive as a written side-by-side comparison stating what each option covers, what it costs, where the trade-offs sit, and which one we recommend and why.

Management Team

The people who design your plan and the people who service it are the same team.
