Who we are

This website, groupbenefitsvancouver.com, is operated by Ascent Insurance Services Inc. ("Ascent Insurance", "we", "us"), an independent insurance agency located at 202-837 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC, V6C 3N6. Group Benefits Vancouver is a marketing name used by Ascent Insurance Services Inc. for its group employee benefits practice; it is not a separate company. Our main corporate website is ascentinsurance.ca.

Ascent Insurance Services Inc. is the organization responsible for the personal information collected through this site. Questions about this policy, or requests to access or correct your information, can be sent to admin@ascentinsurance.ca or 604-398-2399.

What we collect

We collect only the information you choose to submit through the quote and contact forms on this website:

• Your first and last name
• Your email address and, if you provide it, your telephone number
• Your company name
• Your approximate number of employees and whether you currently have a benefits plan
• The subject line and message content you write

We do not ask for, and you should not send through these forms, any sensitive personal information — including health or medical details, dates of birth, Social Insurance Numbers, or banking information. If a quote later requires an employee census, we will arrange a secure method of collecting it.

Why we collect it

We use this information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, where you have asked for one, to prepare a group benefits proposal. That may include contacting insurance carriers on your behalf to obtain quotes. We do not use your information for automated decision-making.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not add you to a marketing list from a form submission, and we do not share your details with third parties except as described immediately below.

Service providers

This website relies on a small number of third-party services in order to function. Each may process limited data on our behalf:

• Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) — delivers form submissions to our team by email.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — verifies that form submissions come from a person rather than an automated script. Turnstile receives technical signals from your browser, including your IP address.
• Google Maps — the map embedded on our contact page is served by Google, which may set its own cookies and receive your IP address when that page loads.
• Google Fonts and Font Awesome — serve the typefaces and icons used across the site.
• Google Tag Manager — loads the measurement tools described under Cookies and analytics below, and may receive your IP address and browsing activity on this site.
• Vercel — hosts this website and maintains standard server logs.

Some of these providers process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Tag Manager to load measurement tools that tell us how the site is used — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and which pages lead to an enquiry. These tools may set cookies in your browser and may collect your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you view.

We use this to improve the site, not to build a profile of you as an individual. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising retargeting. The embedded services listed above may also set their own cookies when you load a page that uses them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a do-not-track setting. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use this site or submit an enquiry.

How long we keep it

Enquiry correspondence is retained for as long as needed to serve you and to meet our record-keeping obligations as a licensed insurance agency. If you do not become a client, you may ask us to delete your enquiry at any time and we will do so, subject to any records we are legally required to retain.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request corrections, and to withdraw consent to our use of it. Security

This site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information involved.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revision date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
