PharmaCare integration

Coordinating a private drug plan with BC's public coverage.

BC PharmaCare provides income-based drug coverage to residents. A private plan can be designed to pay first, or to coordinate so that PharmaCare responds before the private plan does.

How the two are ordered materially changes plan cost and what an employee actually pays at the counter.

What this means for a BC plan

This is genuinely BC-specific and frequently mishandled in plans designed elsewhere or inherited from a national template. Registration for PharmaCare is required for the coordination to work as intended.
