Paramedical services
Practitioner services outside physician and hospital care.
Paramedical coverage reimburses registered practitioners — physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic, psychology, clinical counselling, naturopathy and similar — usually subject to per-practitioner annual maximums.
It is the most visible part of a plan for healthy employees, who may otherwise never make a claim, which gives it outsized influence on how the plan is perceived.
What this means for a BC plan
Mental-health practitioner coverage is the fastest-moving element of BC paramedical design. Counselling maximums set even a few years ago frequently no longer cover a meaningful course of treatment.
