Dispensing fee cap
A limit on the pharmacy fee the plan will reimburse.
A dispensing fee cap limits how much of a pharmacy's dispensing charge the plan pays, with the employee covering any excess. Fees vary substantially between pharmacies for identical prescriptions.
It is one of the few cost controls that is close to invisible to employees who fill prescriptions at competitively priced pharmacies.
What this means for a BC plan
Dispensing fees vary widely across BC pharmacies, so a cap can produce real savings on a plan with high maintenance-drug volume without reducing the drug coverage itself.
